How does Facebook know it is a 360° photography and not classic static photo?
Facebook usually view a photo wider than 100° as a panorama and when you upload your 360° photo you can see in bottom right corner the interactive icon.
Some recommendation when uploading a 360° photo:
- It should be a Equirectangular Format (equirectangular projection), which means the photo needs to be in a 2:1 aspect ratio (width is twice the height).
- Metadata:The photo needs to contain specific metadata indicating that it is a 360° panorama.
- Maximum Resolution:The maximum resolution for a 360° photo on Facebook is typically 16,000 x 8,000 pixels (recommend to upload lower resolution).
- File Size:Files can be as large as 45 MB for JPEGs or 60 MB for PNGs. JPEGs are recommended and should ideally be between 20-30 MB, according to Adobe Express.
