Fisheye lens

When someone is calling about fisheye lens, it refers to ultra wide-angle lens that creates strong and visible distortion on the photo. Fisheye lenses can usually capture 160° angle and more (some really good one can capture even a 220° angle). But how it is possible that the lens can capture this wide angle? Because the lens is convex and the light is bouncing from the lens to different angles.
Fisheye lenses are popular in photography because of the unique distortion, however there are not that common in general. You can see fisheye lens being used in skateboarding videos, music clips, creative photography or 360° photography in general.
Why is fisheye lens is ideal for 360° photography (360° videography)?
Because in 360° photography we want to capture the entire space around us (360° angle x 180° angle), and fisheye lens can really help when it can capture a lot of angles on one picture. So, it’s much easier to use fisheye lenses for this purpose, because it saves a lot of time in capturing the photos and also in postproduction.
